Something for Everyone

UChicago Dining offers delicious selections for various diets, including:

Kosher

A dedicated Kosher dining venue is available at Baker, Bartlett and Cathey Dining Commons. These venues are approved and staffed by the Chicago Rabbinical Council and are open during the academic school year, not including interim periods and during the Sabbath and holidays. UChicago Dining works with Hillel to provide meals for the Sabbath (Friday dinner and Saturday lunch) and holidays. Students may sign up with Hillel to eat their Sabbath meals there (students on a meal plan have their meals covered by the meal plan). 

Zabiha Halal

A dedicated Zabiha Halal dining veue is available at Baker, Bartlett and Cathey Dining Commons. UChicago Dining and Bon Appetit work together with the Muslim Student Association (MSA) to determine the menu of food items that are served at this dining venue.

Vegetarian

Vegetarian options are available at all three dining commons each day, typically served at the Herbivore station.  Throughout the dining commons there are many items that are vegetarian.  These items are identified with a special icon. 

Vegan

Vegan options are available at both dining commons each day, typically served at the Herbivore station. Throughout the dining commons there are many items that are vegetarian.  These items are identified with a special icon.

Made without Gluten

All three dining commons offer a dedicated station for those trying to avoid gluten. These stations are certified by the Gluten Intolerance Group.  There are daily options at other stations including plain grilled chicken breasts and hamburgers; steamed vegetables, gluten-free deli meats, gluten-free cereal and bread; and gluten-free desserts. A dedicated toaster is available to toast the gluten-free bread. Throughout the dining commons there are many items that are made without gluten.  These items are identified with a special icon.
