2026–27 Academic Year

General Terms and Conditions

Conduct within dining facilities is subject to the Student Manual, the Dining Guide, and these Meal Plan Terms and Conditions.

Outside food and beverages may not be consumed in dining spaces.

UChicago Dining follows a limited exposure peanut and tree nut policy. Students with concerns should consult the Dining Guide or contact the campus dietitian.

Required Participation and Eligibility

Students living in University on‑campus housing while contracted with Housing and Residence Life are required to participate in a University meal plan. Meal plan eligibility and assignment are based on a student’s year in housing and room type, not academic class year.

Students living in Vue 53 while contracted with Housing and Residence Life are required to participate in a University meal plan regardless of year in housing.

Students living on campus are assigned a default meal plan based on eligibility. For the 2026–27 academic year, students living in Vue 53 will be assigned the Apartment meal plan by default.

Meal plans may not be canceled while a student remains under contract with Housing and Residence Life.

Meal plan assignment, meal plan changes, or voluntary off‑campus meal plan purchases through the GET App or website constitute acceptance of these terms and conditions.

Meal Plan Changes (Academic-Year Plans)

For students living in University on‑campus housing who are assigned a meal plan, the selected meal plan option will remain in effect for the academic year unless the student makes a change during an eligible selection period or experiences a housing or room change that affects eligibility.

Meal swipes and other plan benefits are issued on a quarterly basis and do not carry over from one academic quarter to the next.

Beginning in the second week of the quarter, new purchases of the Apartment, Phoenix, Gothic, and Unlimited Meal Plans are no longer available.

Meal plans may not be downgraded after the first week of the quarter.

Students living on campus must make meal plan changes through my.uchicago.edu.

Students living off campus may voluntarily purchase eligible meal plans through the GET App or website.

No refunds are provided for unused meals.

Voluntary meal plans purchased through the GET App or website cannot be canceled. Requests related to voluntary purchases must be submitted within seven days of the start of the quarter via the Bursar contact form.

Meal Plans

Meal plan holders must swipe in with a cashier before entering a dining commons.

Meal exchanges are for use by the individual associated with the meal plan and may not be used for others.

Meal swipes and meal exchanges expire at the end of the applicable usage period and do not roll over.

Academic-year meal plan swipes expire at the end of each academic quarter.

Summer Scholars and September Term meal plan swipes expire at the end of the designated session or term.

Meal plan options and quarterly allocations:

Unlimited Meal Plan: Three meal exchanges per day and 100 Dining Dollars per quarter
Phoenix Meal Plan: Fifteen meal exchanges and 200 Dining Dollars per quarter
Apartment Meal Plan: Eight meal exchanges and 265 Dining Dollars per quarter
Gothic Meal Plan: Fifteen meal exchanges and 350 Dining Dollars per quarter

Participation in certain dining programs or campus‑partner meal offerings may result in the deduction of a meal swipe.

Dining Dollars

Dining Dollars are non‑refundable.

For degree‑seeking students, Dining Dollars do not expire and remain on the student’s account as long as the student continues to be enrolled as a degree‑seeking student.

Dining Dollars may expire upon separation from the University or loss of degree‑seeking enrollment status.

Off‑Campus Meal Plans

Off‑campus meal plans are voluntary and are not assigned by default.

Available options include the 10‑Pack, 30‑Pack, and Lake Park plans.

The 10‑Pack and 30‑Pack plans may be purchased up to two times per quarter.

Plans must be purchased through the GET App or website and are not automatically billed.

Unused off‑campus meal swipes expire at the end of the applicable usage period.

Summer Dining Programs

Summer Scholars Meal Plans

Available to UChicago degree‑seeking students, faculty, and staff not covered by Summer Conference housing contracts.

Plans are session‑based with defined purchase windows and usage periods.

Meal swipes expire at the end of the session.

Dining Dollars roll over while degree‑seeking enrollment is maintained.

September Term Meal Plans

Designed for degree‑seeking students participating in September Term.

Provide dining access prior to the academic year and expire at the conclusion of the term.

Meal swipes expire at the end of September Term.

Dining Dollars roll over while enrolled.

Summer Group Meal Plans

Available for groups not contracted through Summer Conferences for overnight housing.

Availability, pricing, and access vary and must be arranged with UChicago Dining.

Groups must review the applicable Knowledge Base Article and submit required forms.

Guest Meal Policy

Meal plans and meal packs are non‑transferable.

Meals for others must be paid using guest meals, Dining Dollars, or another accepted payment method.

To‑Go Meals

Require two taps: one for the meal swipe and one for the To‑Go allotment.

Meals must be packed and removed from dining commons.

No refunds are provided for missed meals due to isolation or quarantine.

Liability

UChicago Dining assumes no responsibility for personal property in dining facilities.

Solicitation

Posting, sales, or solicitation in dining facilities is prohibited without prior written consent.
