On Thursday, November 18, UChicago Dining will host Thank-Ful, a campus-wide Friendsgiving event focused on celebrating togetherness, expressing gratitude, and giving back to the Hyde Park and Woodlawn communities.
To celebrate Thank-Ful, students on meal plans can enjoy a variety of Thanksgiving menu items, such as turkey, stuffing, baked macaroni and cheese, and cranberry crumble, among other holiday meal classics.
Each Dining Commons will feature a Thank-ful wall, where students can write notes of gratitude.
Thank-ful will also include several giving back projects:
- The Get a Pie, Give a Pie Bake Sale with live music. A variety of pies from the local bakery Justice of the Pies will be available. For every pie that is purchased, a pie will be donated as part of a holiday meal that will be distributed to families through the Kindness Campaign.
- A campus-wide canned food drive to benefit the Kindness Campaign. Donations can be dropped off at any of the four dining commons, Hutchinson Commons, and Midway and Maroon markets.
- All UChicago Dining associates will receive Butterball turkey gift cards.
In addition, Chartwells, the University’s dining service provider, will donate 30,000 meals to partnering schools to fight food insecurity.
